Conventional Construction

Why you should opt for conventional construction:

  • Conventional construction is the most familiar building method, as opposed to the more modern building methods, such as prefabricated buildings, mixed constructions, purely metal buildings and Double Wall prefabricated buildings, as it is the most tried and tested and therefore the best-known construction method in Greece.
  • Conventional construction is 5% – 15% cheaper than purchase due to the organization in work teams and also due to the advantage of achieving lower prices by making mass purchases.

Nevertheless, if you examine the disadvantages of conventional construction as opposed to other construction methods, you will come up with the following:

  • Longer delivery time
  • High contribution to the Social Insurance Institute
  • More expensive building method in comparison to mixed construction method. The market offers conventional construction at a price 30% – 40% higher than mixed construction.
  • Difficulty and high cost in damage restoration. In a mixed construction, a pillar that is probably bent or has undergone any other kind of damage can be repaired quickly, very easily and at a much lower cost.
  • More difficult quality control

The completion time required for a residence of 100 m2 is 240-260 days.

Building method of conventional construction

The construction is composed of:

  • Pillars, beams and concrete slab
  • Masonry made of bricks and plaster

This is the classic construction method and the most widespread in Greece as well.

ADVANTAGES:

The conventional construction method has a wide range of advantages, such as:

  • Compatibility of materials

Building materials are totally compatible with each other, which results in a uniform construction with no structural problems in the long run.

  • Designing ease

In the conventional construction method we are given more designing choices, since there are no limitations set by the material itself. Cross sections may have any dimensions whatsoever, while, as opposed to metal constructions, there is no compulsory arrangement of vertical rigidity links required.

  • Durability

Constructions made of reinforced concrete turn out to be highly durable in the long run, but a careful selection of quality materials has to be made and the works have to be carried out properly by specialized construction gangs. Moreover, protection measures need to be taken for the ‘sensitive’ parts of the construction, such as application of appropriate special materials onto the surfaces of visible concrete, application of a grid to the longitudinal concrete – brickwork joints.

  • Resistance to fire

The fire resistance index of concrete is particularly high, as opposed to other construction types, such as, for instance, steel constructions that have zero tolerance to fire.

  • Economy

Due to the great demand and supply of concrete by domestic industry, we are able to construct buildings using quality and environmentally friendly materials at extremely low prices. In addition to that, conventional constructions are characterized by low maintenance costs.

  • Quality of construction

Conventional building with reinforced concrete is considered the most widespread in Greece. Therefore, taking our experience into account as well, we are able to construct quality buildings that withstand time.
