RESTART OF ‘SAVING AT HOME’ PROGRAM

The much-awaited program for the subsidization of energy upgrading projects ‘Saving at Home 2017’ is going to start soon. In this unit you will find all the useful and crucial information you are probably looking for.

Subsidized program

In the context of Corporate Social Responsibility and with respect to citizens’ needs for saving money and energy, the Ministry of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change offers you the ‘Saving at Home’ program.

This is a co-funded program for the improvement of the energy performance of buildings of the housing sector, which concerns owners whose houses are in a low energy class.

The program provides the beneficiaries with incentives, so as to implement the most important interventions in order to improve the energy performance of their house and, at the same time, it contributes to the achievement of the energy-related and environmental goals of the country, ensuring, after its completion, energy saving of up to 1 billion kWh annually.

More specifically, by participating in the program, beneficiaries are entitled to:

  • A grant of up to 70% of the budget eligible
  • 100% interest subsidy
  • Covering of the cost of building energy certifier and project consultant

ELIGIBLE RESIDENCES

Funding possibilities are provided for detached houses, for blocks of flats as a whole and for single flats that meet the following criteria:

  • They are situated in areas with a zone price of 2.100€/sq. m. or less.
  • Based on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), it has been categorized as D class or lower.

IMPROVEMENT WORKS

The eligible funding options are based on the Building Energy Certifier’s recommendations during energy inspection and concern exclusively the following categories:

  1. Thermal insulation placing on the envelope of the building, including the (flat) roof and the pilotis space (the open ground-floor parking area between pilotis)
  2. Replacement of door and window frames and placing of shading systems
  3. Upgrading of heating and domestic hot water supply systems

The maximum eligible budget for the interventions including V.A.T. (which constitutes an eligible expenditure for the Program) cannot exceed the sum of 15.000€ per property.

7 STEPS FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE PROGRAM

  1. Checking of residence eligibility criteria by the person interested and assessment of creditworthiness in cooperation with a bank which participates in the program
  2. First Energy Inspection for the issuing of an Energy Performance Certificate (E.P.C.) – Selection of interventions
  3. Submission of application and supportive documents at the bank
  4. Approval of application
  5. Implementation of interventions
  6. Second Energy Inspection, issuing of 2nd Energy Performance Certificate
  7. Submission of supportive documents for granting incentives (intervention completion form, vouchers on credit for the implemented ones)
