SPECIAL CONSTRUCTIONS
A FEW WORDS ABOUT THE CONVENTIONAL CONSTRUCTION METHOD:
It is the building method in which the framework of the building is made of reinforced concrete, while masonry is faced with bricks and plaster. The construction of the work is in total accordance with the most recent Energy Performance of Buildings Directive(EPBD) , as well as the most recent Greek anti-seismic regulation. Conventional construction is the most tried and tested method of construction in Greece and it is resistant to tough environmental conditions, such as heat waves and frost. In addition to that, the work can be carried out using a plethora of building materials.
PROCEDURE
The procedure required is extremely simple and it is fully undertaken by our office. More specifically, the steps followed are the ones below:
- Excavation of building site
- Foundation and construction of framework
The construction is made following closely the technical reports and always according to the Greek anti-seismic regulation. The framework is comprised of columns made of concrete, beams and the slab (rooftop).
- Building of internal and external masonry
We construct using branded and environmentally friendly materials.
- Electrical installation
It includes the wiring, the switchboard, the branch boxes, the internal telephone installation etc. All installations are done according to designs authorized by DEI (Public Electricity Company) and they are based on its specifications.
- Plumbing and drainage installations
At this stage sanitary ware is installed, as well as internal water supply pipes, internal drainage pipes and the supply pipe reaching up to the external side of the building.
- Plasterwork and setting of false ceiling
- Painting
We use environmentally friendly materials and select colors of your choice together, after demonstrating them to you on a special designing program.
- Putting sanitary ware and tiles into place
Washbasin, bathtub, shower cabin, kitchen sink, internal home tiles, porch tiles
- Door and window frames
Installation of energy door and window frames – color and material of your choice (PVC or aluminium)
- Electrical appliances (sockets and switches)
At this stage switches and sockets are put into the existing places.

ADVANTAGES:
The conventional construction method has a wide range of advantages, such as:
- Compatibility of materials
Building materials are totally compatible with each other, which results in a uniform construction with no structural problems in the long run.
- Designing ease
In the conventional construction method we are given more designing choices, since there are no limitations set by the material itself. Cross sections may have any dimensions whatsoever, while, as opposed to metal constructions, there is no compulsory arrangement of vertical rigidity links required.
- Durability
Constructions made of reinforced concrete turn out to be highly durable in the long run, but a careful selection of quality materials has to be made and the works have to be carried out properly by specialized construction gangs. Moreover, protection measures need to be taken for the ‘sensitive’ parts of the construction, such as application of appropriate special materials onto the surfaces of visible concrete, application of a grid to the longitudinal concrete – brickwork joints.
- Resistance to fire
The fire resistance index of concrete is particularly high, as opposed to other construction types, such as, for instance, steel constructions that have zero tolerance to fire.
- Economy
Due to the great demand and supply of concrete by domestic industry, we are able to construct buildings using quality and environmentally friendly materials at extremely low prices. In addition to that, conventional constructions are characterized by low maintenance costs.
- Quality of construction
Conventional building with reinforced concrete is considered the most widespread in Greece. Therefore, taking our experience into account as well, we are able to construct quality buildings that withstand time.
